Summer Programs 2023

This year, the Summerland Institute is excited to welcome students for our three flagship programs: the High School Artificial Intelligence Program, the Undergraduate Research Experience, and our Graduate Research Fellows. Under the direction of world-renowned faculty, students will gain knowledge, skills, and experience in focused computing topics.

Dr. Jen Golbeck - Summer Program Director

This summer, Dr. Jen Golbeck is directing our programs. She is a computer scientist, Professor at the University of Maryland, and Senior Research Fellow at the Summerland Institute.

High School Artificial Intelligence Camp

For ambitious high school students interested in Artificial Intelligence, this one-week online program will introduce the history of AI, give students hands-on experience with machine learning tools, teach them to interpret results, and discuss challenges from new AI applications such at ChatGPT and social media algorithms.

Graduate Research Fellows

This summer we will welcome a class of graduate researchers who will conduct intensive research on a project of their choosing with mentorship from Summerland Institute Research Fellows.
